Tetsujin 28-Go

I actually don’t know all that much about Tetsujin 28-Go (aka Gigantor to Western audiences), or a lot of old manga series, to be honest. If it’s Osamu Tezuka works I’ve probably heard of them, but outside of this realm it’s No Man’s Land.

Well, not really, but I recently saw a bit about Tetsujin 28-Go and it looks interesting enough. Check out the opening theme above - they don’t make opening themes like that these days for sure, song or animation. When was the last time you heard a song like that as an opening theme? Sounds patriotic, even.

What’s cool though is that it seems that there’s a giantic Tetsujin 28-Go statue in Kobe. What a tribute! Another reason to go to Japan then.

In other news, if you’re on the lookout for the manga, seems that most of it could be yours for the low price of 80,000JPY. Still available at time of writing at Shibuya Mandarake. That’s $917.27AUD with today’s exchange rate, but only $657.19USD. The Australian dollar sucks right now.
