Star Trek Into Darkness with @Rubenerd, @elkeee and @RainerSaid

Yuki facing the final frontier?

I'm not sure how to feel about the first item of Star Trek I've ever watching being the latest Star Trek reboot film, Star Trek Into Darkness. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good film by itself which I enjoyed thoroughly (I think that probably had as much to do with the company as the film itself) but as the girlfriend of a Trekkie I avoided the first Star Trek reboot film when it aired on TV the weekend before the release of the latest film precisely because I wanted to have a look at the older TV series and movies which Ruben loves so much... though I procrastinated on that a little too long.

I'm getting ahead of myself though - this evening I watched Star Trek Into Darkness (is there a shorter name for this) with members of the Schade family and it was basically a private screening since the cinema/theatre was empty except for us four sitting up the back. Naturally that meant we could be as loud as we wanted in our comments... I'm kidding, we were all perfectly well behaved. It was fun and I'm grateful they invited me along because it wouldn't have been half as fun without them.

Whatever I was expecting, well I shouldn't have bothered since I know nothing (ha). Benedict Cumberbatch seemed to reprise his role as Sherlock in space, when observing the speed in which he spat out words and some of his attitude, kicked up a notch darker. This would be Sherlock if he were actually a psychopath instead of a sociopath. And in space. At any rate, it was nice to see him again, and he definitely buffed up from the skinny Sherlock to play this role, but really, who can resist the Vulcan? :3

I can't decide if it's actually logical to like Spock or not like Ruben advises, but le Captain Kirk isn't so likeable for me here, hero or not, and I can't decide if that's on purpose either. Clearly I just need to watch the older stuff. Here, have a screengrab of Spock from somewhere to close this off. Also I believe Ruben was disappointed because of a certain lack of Kirk-Spock interaction~

Nice suits.
