BREAKING: @Rubenerd.com to the nines

Nya-in years for Rubenerd

Nyan nyan nyan nyan. Well, that's the last time I try to colour with pencils.

I had word from a little bird today that the Rubénerd blog turns nine today! Well, I got it right from the horse's mouth, but when I say horse, I do mean bird, right? Uhm.

Anyway, let us gather today to celebrate the ninth birthday of Rubenerd.com! Well, that and my brother's birthday, but anyway. Congratulations!

I------it's Trivia Time!

You heard me. Have some (maybe?) pointless trivia that Ruben loves!

  • I once had a friend who had nine fingers-- Wait, I can't say that.
  • There are nine (living) Arcobaleno in Reborn-- Ah, no one's heard of that.
  • Nine sounds like nein in German. Actually, let's not go there.
  • There are 9 states and Territories in Australia... apparently! (6 states and 3 mainland territories)
  • Golf courses often have nine holes.
  • Sudoku is played on a 9 by 9 grid, divided into nine 3 by 3 boxes. Every row, column and box must contain the digits from 1 - 9 only once.
  • Each face of a Rubik's cube consists of nine squares.
  • Germany has nine bordering countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland.
  • 'Redivider' has nine letters and is the longest palindromic word in the English language.
  • The longest English words with only one syllable are 'strengths', which has only one vowel, and 'screeched'.
  • WXY
  • The working day starts at 9am. Usually. (Hence, 9 to 5)
  • The nine of diamonds playing card is often referred to as the 'Curse of Scotland'.
  • The morse code for number 9 is 4 dashes and 1 dot ( _ _ _ _ . )
  • The flag semaphore signal for number 9 is that of letter I.
  • The expression to the nines means to the highest degree.

Well, I guess that settles it.

As an aside, trivia unrelated to the number 9:

  • Today is my brother's birthday as well as one of Ruben's relatives.
  • Today is also when I opened my main GaiaOnline account. Happy 9 years of Gaia! Too bad I missed their anniversary — I also haven't been active on Gaia since 2009.
